Adrianne LaBry Smith

Adrianne LaBry was born to Ella Mae LeLeux LaBry and Ewell LaBry in Kaplan, Louisiana on July 22, 1964. One of seven children, Adrianne graduated with a 4.0 average as co-valedictorian from Kaplan High School in 1982. Taking extra classes of personal interest, and paying her own way through college, she graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Her professional career began in August of that year when she accepted a position as Teacher of the Gifted in Vermilion Parish. Continuing her studies, she earned a Masters of Education degree, with a major in gifted education and a minor in computer literacy.

Adrianne has taught gifted enrichment classes to students ranging from kindergarten to twelfth grade for 18 ½ years, 14 ½ in Lafayette Parish. Though she is hired to focus on critical and creative thinking skills by providing lessons in visual art and computer literacy, Mrs. Smith has felt it imperative to incorporate activities that support the social/emotional development of gifted and talented students. She has attended numerous workshops and classes on this topic, as well as, other workshops focusing on personal self-growth and spirituality.

Since her high school days, Adrianne has helped to create and facilitate retreats and personal growth workshops. Her special interests include combining visual art, dance, and spirituality. Adrianne became a student-teacher of the Tara dance in July of 2005 and has led a group of “Tara dancers” since August of that year.

Adrianne LaBry married Gilbert B. Smith, in 1989 and together they provide spiritually, emotionally, and financially for their three children. In the midst of parenting, teaching, and relating with her husband, Adrianne also enjoys creating art, cooking, gardening, reading, belly dancing, Cajun dancing, and Latin dancing.
